Martin Farms – Animal Care Media Statement (RESTON, Va., April 3, 2019) — Martin Farms, a Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative (Maryland & Virginia) member farm in Pennsylvania, recently notified the cooperative of alleged animal mistreatment claims made about the farm by an animal activist group. Maryland & Virginia takes all claims about animal mistreatment very seriously, and we assert that any evidence of animal abuse should be immediately reported and investigated. Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers is Focused on the Future at its 99th Annual Meeting after a Challenging Year for Members and the Dairy Industry

(RESTON, Va., March 28, 2019) — Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association, Inc. celebrated it’s 99th year of operation and reported that the organization is focused on the future and maximizing value for its current members and the next generation of members. Maryland & Virginia Honors Members with Inaugural Producer of the Year Award at 99th Annual Meeting

(RESTON, Va., March 28, 2019) — Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative honored two farm families as Producers of the Year and two families as Producer of the Year Finalists at its 99th Annual Meeting during the Member Recognition Luncheons held this week in Hickory, North Carolina, and York, Pennsylvania. The Producer of the Year award is a new recognition for the cooperative. Virginia Organizations Team Up to Provide Statewide Dairy Initiative for Food Banks 

Virginia-Based Maola Milk Purchased Through the Milk for Good program

(RICHMOND, Va., March 7, 2019) — January marked the launch of the Milk for Good campaign, Virginia’s first dairy purchase program for food banks. Funded by a $50,000 grant provided by Farm Credit of the Virginias, MidAtlantic Farm Credit, and Colonial Farm Credit, the grant will supply food banks across the state with fresh, local Maola milk for six months. READ MORE...

Pennsylvania Couple Named Outstanding Young Cooperator

February 4, 2019, Reston, Va. – Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative recently named Rich and Shelby Holsopple as the co-op's 2019 Outstanding Young Cooperators (YC).

The Holsopples help operate Moyers Rolling Green Acres, a seasonal grazing dairy, with Shelby's father, Glenn Moyer, and her brother, Matt Moyer. Together they milk 670 cows at two locations; one in Manns Choice and the other in Friedens, Pennsylvania. Rich and Shelby manage the Friedens farm where they milk 250 cows. Collectively the family raises 400 heifers, and cares for 1,400 acres of farmland.

As Outstanding YCs, the Holsopples are invited to attend Maryland & Virginia board meetings, and will represent the Cooperative at the National Milk Producers Federation YC meetings in in Washington, D.C. and in New Orleans, Louisiana later this year. READ MORE...

Dairy Cooperative Rises to the Challenges of Environmental Sustainability, Farmer Support and Consumer Expectations

January 23, 2019, Reston, Virginia – All member farms in Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association, Inc. (Maryland & Virginia) have been evaluated as part of the Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) program. This program established by the National Milk Producers Federation helps farmers of every size and setup maintain healthy and safe practices for animals, workers and the environment. Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Receives $1 Million Grant to work with Farmers, Turkey Hill Dairy and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Funding will support installing best management conservation practices on farms

Reston, Virginia (December 5, 2018): Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative (Maryland & Virginia) in partnership with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and Turkey Hill Dairy have been awarded a $1 million grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF).
